The Graduate Nurses Foundation of Sri Lanka (GNFSL) was represented at OPA Connect & Care 2026, organised by the Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) and held on 19 September 2026 at the OPA premises in Colombo.
The inaugural initiative brought together professionals from a wide range of disciplines represented within OPA’s diverse membership, including healthcare, law, taxation, veterinary medicine, agriculture, and several other professional fields.
OPA members and their families, as well as members of affiliated professional organisations, had the opportunity to meet and interact directly with professionals, seek guidance, and access consultations across various areas of expertise. The initiative provided a valuable platform for professional interaction, knowledge sharing, and community engagement.
GNFSL was represented by Dr. Sunethra Jayathilake (President), Dr. Ashoka Dissanayake (Secretary), Prof. Lalitha Meegoda (Representative of GNFSL at OPA) and nursing officers from the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL), Colombo.

GNFSL recognizes the valuable contribution of these nursing officers, whose participation helped highlight the important role and contribution of the nursing profession within this multidisciplinary professional forum. Our sincere appreciation also goes to the Chief Special Grade Nursing Officer of NHSL, Madam R. A. D. C. Karunaratne, and Special Grade Nursing Officer, Madam Rathnakumari, for facilitating the participation of the nursing officers and releasing them to attend this event.
Their presence and engagement strengthened the representation of the nursing profession and reflected the commitment of nurses to contributing to wider professional and multidisciplinary initiatives.GNFSL is pleased to have been part of this inaugural initiative and appreciates the OPA for creating a platform that promotes professional collaboration, community engagement, and knowledge sharing across disciplines.
